Therapeutic Approaches

Three major therapeutic approaches underpin Psychological Wellbeing within Compassion.  All interactions are person centred and individualised.

Biopsychological

Everyone is embodied and as such everything they think, experience and do has an impact on their physical body.  Likewise, bodily experiences such as a person's genetic make-up, infections and diseases all impact on the person's sense of wellbeing.

Cognitive Behavioural

The humanistic therapeutic approach identifies that each person is an individual with unique potential and life experiences.  This leads to a person centred approach.  Psychological Wellbeing within Compassion also incorporates  attachment theory which identifies that everyone needs to experience a nurturing, safe and secure environment for personal growth.

Cognitive behavioural therapy is accepted as the most effective way to address anxiety.  It highlights the interplay between thought, behaviour and emotions.  Through this therapeutic approach people are supported to restructure their thinking and find new ways of behaving to facilitate wellbeing.
